The northern end of the park has 41 individual picnic sites and 130 campsites. These are modern facilities with electricity, water, tables, grills, toilets, showers and a dump station.

This park contains some 85 miles of trails. The southern part of the park is referred to as the Dome Rock or Four mile day use area. It is considerably less developed than the north. This region of the park is a state-run wildlife area. It is closed from December 15 to May 15 for bighorn sheep grazing and lambing.

The developed areas of Mueller State Park make it a great place to enjoy camping, picnicking, viewing scenery, photography, biking, fishing, hiking and horseback riding. Mueller is open year-round. During the winter months the trails are excellent for cross-country skiing.

To get there take U.S. 24 west from Colorado Springs for 25 miles to Divide. Turn left onto South Highway 67 for 3.5 miles.
