Recreation at Stagecoach State Park is centered upon the 775 surface-acre reservoir. Boating is popular with water skiing and jet skiing permitted in the northeast portion of the lake. The southwestern corner of the lake is reserved for wakeless boating.

Fishing for rainbow, brook, brown and Snake River cutthroat trout challenges anglers. Northern pike and Kokanee salmon are also present in the lake. Ice fishing is popular during the winter months.

Other activities that visitors may enjoy at this site are bird watching, hiking and horseback riding. Approximately five miles of trails are maintained along the south shore. Ice skating, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling are accessible for winter visitors.

To get there from Steamboat Springs, go four miles east on U.S. 40, then south on Colorado 131 for five miles to Routt County Road 14. Drive seven miles south and you will be at the park entrance.
